‘My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness’ Author Kabi Nagata Features as Guest at TCAF Arts FestivalThe Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF) announced yesterday that it would be hosting Kabi Nagata as a featured guest for the 2021 convention. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held online.Kabi Nagata is a Japanese manga artist known for her brutal and honest self-biographical comics. Born in 1987, she uploaded her first manga to art-sharing site Pixiv, which exploded in popularity before being published in print as the Harvey Award-winning My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness. Since then, she has published sequential works to document her ongoing struggles with depression and her sexual identity. Her two-part series My Solo Exchange Diary is published alongside My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness by Seven Seas Entertainment. Seven Seas will release her newest work, My Alcoholic Escape from Reality, later this year.TCAF will be held virtually on May 8-15, 2021. It will feature on-demand programming, a shop of hundreds of exhibitors’ work, workshops, talks, and more. Nagata will appear in an interview alongside Deb Aoki, with Jocelyne Allen working as their interpreter. Allen also works as the translator for all of Nagata’s work.
