A celebration of the wonderful works of Kyoto Animation came in the form of a Sound! Euphonium Christmas concert held this week. All proceeds from the concert were donated to helping victims and their families recover from the horrors of the arson attack on the anime studio in July. The world’s fans came out in force to hear songs from the show’s jubilant soundtrack played by live bands, raising almost $30 million dollars for the cause. The real Kitauji High School’s wind ensemble and other local bands convened at Uji City Cultural Hall, the setlist including ‘Liz and the Blue Bird’ from its titular film and the anime’s opening theme ‘Dream Solister’. It was noted on the event’s website that all proceeds, minus operational costs, will be donated on the advice of the Sound! Euphonium Production Committee, with some funds going to the Japanese Red Cross.
