On Sunday, Warner Bros. Japan announced that it would be adapting Mato Sato and Nilitsu’s Yuri fantasy light novel series The Executioner and Her Way of Life (Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road), also known as Virgin Road, into a television anime series. Warner Bros. Japan launched an official website for the series and uploaded an announcement video to its YouTube page.Yen Press licenses the light novel in English and describes the series: The Lost Ones are wanderers who come here from a distant world known as “Japan.” No one knows how or why they leave their homes. The only thing that is certain is that they bring disaster and calamity. The duty of exterminating them without remorse falls to Menou, a young Executioner. When she meets Akari, it seems like just another job…until she discovers it’s impossible to kill this girl! And when Menou begins to search for a way to defeat this immortality, Akari is more than happy to tag along! So begins a journey that will change Menou forever… The series will star:Iori Saeki as Menou, the Executioner. A young executioner with exceptional magical ability. She is dedicated to her mission and works to finish off Akari before her power gets out of hand. She grows close with her targets and becomes their friends to understand their abilities before killing them. She fights with a short blade and her sacred scripture.Moeka Kishimoto as Akari. This easy-going and affectionate Lost One appears immune to Menou’s attacks. Although she is unaware of much, including her own abilities, Akari is happy to tag along on Menou’s journey.Unlike most fantasy-action seinen series, The Executioner and her Way of Life features a female protagonist and a Yuri storyline. The light novels are well reviewed and the series won the grand prize at the 11th GA Bunko Awards.The first volume is scheduled for English on March 9, 2021. SB Creative publishes the series in Japanese, with the fifth volume set to debut on February 10.
