The second semester of my second year at uni was completed at the end of March. Things have been a blur ever since the year started, but the months were punctuated with tranquil and joyous memories of clarity. I was so happy to purchase Octopath Traveller 2 on its day of release because the first entry was a refuge for me from 2018 to 2021: I was excited for it from the moment I saw its trailer for the first time in 2017, and it’s partly due to the character Alfyn that I decided to study Medicine. I feel it’s a huge shame that the original has had a lingering harsh response, because to me its qualities far outweigh its drawbacks. One of the things I love most about video games are enjoyable battle mechanics and unforgettable boss battles, which Octoapth 1 has in abundance. I could write an entire post about the game (which I may very well do one of these days), but in short: Octopath 1 deserves every bit of praise its sequel’s received.
