So, his whereabouts and what he has been up to since the kidnapping hoax are mostly unknown. SherriPapini’s ex-husband reflects on living under her hoax, years after learning about her phony kidnap plot. Reyes has not responded to ABC News' request for comment about SherriPapini's claims, but he has previously denied them. Reyes was then interviewed and told the FBI Papini had stayed with him during her alleged kidnapping. That same month, Papini was arrested for perpetrating the kidnapping hoax. Six weeks later she signed a plea deal admitting to orchestrating thehoax. SherriPapini, who previously confessed to faking her own kidnapping, is now claiming that she really was abducted. Papini, a mom of two, went missing on November 2, 2016, while jogging in her neighborhood of Redding, California. SherriPapini was sentenced in 2022 to 18 months in prison and a $300,000 fine. Authorities eventually realized that Sherri was found with both male and female DNA on her, neither of which matched Keith’s.
